SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University tennis teams will welcome both Southern Wesleyan and North Greenville to campus this weekend.
The Converse University women's tennis team is 5-6 overall and 2-1 in Conference Carolinas action. The Valkyries are coming off a 5-2 loss to Barton on Saturday afternoon in Wilson, N.C.
Maria Belen Vendrell and
Luiza Estrada were the only Valkyries to pick up wins at their respective singles flights. Both Estrada and Vendrell will also be looking for their team leading fifth and sixth wins of the season on the singles court. In doubles action the Valkyries top tandem of Estrada and
Tonya Glogowski-Watson are 4-6 overall.
The Southern Wesleyan women's tennis team is 2-8 overall and 1-2 in Conference Carolinas play. The Warriors are 0-4 on the road this season but they are coming off a hard fought 4-3 win over King University on Saturday afternoon.
The North Greenville women's tennis team is 2-9 overall and 1-2 in Conference Carolinas play. The Crusaders are 0-3 on the road this season and they have lost two straight matches. North Greenville is coming off a 7-0 loss to Lander on Wednesday afternoon. Larissa Berger leads the team with a 4-6 overall record in singles action, playing at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles flights this season.
The Converse men's team is 6-6 overall and 2-1 in Conference Carolinas action. The Valkyries are 1-1 in home games this season and they are coming off a 5-2 loss to nationally ranked Barton on Saturday afternoon.
Merlin Bellet has emerged as the Valkyries top singles player with an 8-2 overall record and a perfect 3-0 record at the No. 1 singles flight. In doubles action, Bellet and partner
Paul Berrouet are 3-1 at the No. 2 doubles court. The Valkyries top tandem of
Leopold Morel and
Louka Queguiner are also 3-1 at the No. 1 doubles flight.
The Southern Wesleyan men's tennis team is 4-8 overall and 2-1 in Conference Carolinas play. The Warriors have won three straight matches dating back to March 19
th. Southern Wesleyan is coming off a 6-1 win over Johnson C. Smith on Tuesday afternoon.
The North Greenville men's tennis team is 2-5 overall and 2-0 in Conference Carolinas play. The Crusaders are 0-2 on the road this season and they are coming off a 7-0 loss to Lander on Wednesday afternoon. So far this season no Crusaders player has recorded a winning record in either singles or doubles play.
