Softball Returns Home After Tough Weekend to Host Lees-McRae

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University softball will return home to Tyger River Stadium to host Lees-McRae in a Conference Carolinas doubleheaders series on Tuesday afternoon.

The Series
These games will be the 11th and 12th matchups between the Valkyries and the Bobcats. The Bobcats hold a 7-3 record over the Valkyries, splitting the 2021 doubleheader series. Lees-McRae won game one 13-0, and Converse came back and won game two 9-4.
 
Converse Notes
  • The Valkyries are 1-29 and 0-6 in Conference Carolinas play after most recently dropping four games in North Carolina this past weekend. On Saturday, Converse was defeated 8-0 in both games against Chowan. On Sunday, Barton took two games by scores of 8-7 and 9-1.
  • Faith Hauser leads Converse with a .264 batting average in 53 at-bats. She has seven runs, 14 hits, three doubles, and five RBI's on the year.
  • Brooklyn McElrath leads in at-bats (89), Serrah Ballard leads in RBI's (11), and four Valkyries are tied in home runs with one each (Ryan Finazzo, Maggie Griffis, Emily Ingle, and Ballard).
  • Ballard leads in the circle, pitching 76 innings with 24 strikeouts. Belle Roper follows with 28.1 innings and eight strikeouts.
Lees-McRae Notes
  • The Bobcats are 8-16 and 2-4 in Conference Carolinas action after most recently splitting a doubleheader series against conference opponent Southern Wesleyan. The Warriors took game one 7-5 and Lees-McRae won game two 8-4.
  • Hannah Foster leads Lees-McRae with a .443 batting average off of 79 at-bats, 15 runs, 35 hits, nine doubles, three triples, and 16 RBI's.
  • Julie Gast is tied with most at-bats at 79 apiece. Megan Powell leads with six home runs while Emma Jackson leads with 18 RBI's.
  • Powell leads the Bobcats in the circle with 69.1 innings pitched and 77 strikeouts. Jada Wilson follows with 55 innings pitched with 49 strikeouts thrown.
