SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse softball team will head to Newberry College to play in the Newberry Round Robin Tournament against Millersville and Newberry on Saturday and Sunday, February 26 and 27.

The Series:
This will be the first time that Converse and Millersville have gone up against each other and the 6^th and 7^th times that Converse and Newberry have faced each other. The Wolves hold a 5-0 record over the Valkyries with their last victory coming last season when they defeated Converse 9-0.
 
Converse Notes:

• The Valkyries are 0-16 this season after most recently dropping two games to West Virginia Tech on Monday afternoon. In the losses, Grace McKinney and Faith Hauser each recorded an RBI in the first game. Serrah Ballard (0-6) would pick up the losses on the mound for Converse after pitching a total of 10 innings with one strikeout.
• Brooklyn McElrath leads Converse with 47 at-bats, four runs, 10 hits, two doubles and three RBI's. Ryan Finazzo follows with 40 at-bats, four runs, nine hits, four doubles and six RBI's, a team high.
• On the mound, Ballard leads the team with 39.2 total innings pitched with 14 strikeouts. Reagan Owens follows her with 28 innings pitched with a total of 22 strikeouts on the year.

Millersville Notes:

• In the 2021 season, Millersville finished 21-19 overall and 14-18 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
• As a freshman, Aleese Angelo led the Marauders with a .330 batting average, 100 at-bats, 26 runs, 33 hits, three doubles, 10 home runs and 31 RBI's last season.
• In the circle, freshman Morgan Crutcher led with 103 total innings pitched while producing 56 strikeouts in the '21 season.

Newberry Notes:

• The Wolves are 13-5 this season after most recently winning a doubleheader series against August University on Tuesday afternoon. In the 6-2 and 6-1 wins, Mallena Wright led Newberry with six at-bats, two hits, two runs and one RBI. Kasey Widmyer (6-2) led in the mound, pitching all seven innings of game one with seven strikeouts.
• Hannah Towery leads the team with 20 RBI's off of 50 at-bats, 16 runs, 22 hits, seven doubles, one triple and four home runs. Lindsey Mitchell ties Towery with four homeruns as well.
• Widmyer (6-2) leads all Newberry pitchers with 40.2 innings pitched with 29 strikeouts. Alexandra Sullivan (3-2) follows in second with 38.2 innings pitched while producing a team-high 34 strikeouts.
