Starting at 12:40 p.m. tomorrow afternoon the Converse University Athletic Department will be holding a Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the new turf field.

The Series:
This will be the third all-time meeting between Converse and Montreat dating back to the 2017 season. The Valkyries have outscored the Cavaliers 42-2 over that span, in their last meeting the Valkyries defeated Montreat 22-1 in 2019.
Sharlize Burgos led all scorers with 11 goals on 21 shots and Flore Samsi finished second on the team with six goals and three assists against the Cavaliers.

Converse Notes:
- This will be the Valkyries first game of the 2022 season, last year the Valkyries finished with a 1-8 overall record and a 1-6 record in Conference Carolinas action.
- Converse went 1-2 in home games last season, but they will be looking to win their second consecutive season opener.
- Last season the Valkyries opened the season with a 17-11 win over Erskine College. Libby Stevens led the team with seven goals on nine shot attempts.
- The Valkyries return 14 players from last year's squad, including leading goal scorers Sharlize Burgos and Libby Stevens. Other offensive threats returning for the Valkyries this season, include Rhianna Warner, Haleigh McSwain, Cassidy O'Neill, and Camryn Wales.
- On the defensive side of the ball starting goalkeeper Madalynn Brunner returns to the cage for the Valkyries. A seasoned backline will help Brunner defend the net with upperclassmen AC McGuinn, Kelsie Glass, Madelyn Robinson, Jordyn Rose, Ciriaca Petitto, Sydney Burbage and Taylor Goldfuss.
- The Valkyries have added seven newcomers to the team for the 2022 season. Reagan Collins, Sydney Sanford, Brenna Everette, Camille Davenport, Breanna Willimon, Kailee Reel and Nathaly Hansana will all look to make their mark for the Valkyries this season. Â

Montreat Notes:
- Montreat is 2-1 overall this year with wins over Brenau and Lees-McCrae College.
- The Cavaliers are coming off a 14-7 loss to Emmanuel on Thursday afternoon.
- This season, Montreat is averaging 16.3 goals per game and 28.6 shots per game. The Cavaliers are shooting at a 57 percent clip this season.
- Kate Gauntlett leads the team in goals (14), assists (9), points (23) and draw controls won (6). Izzy Knight is second on the team with 12 goals and 7 assists, while Dovie Yates is third on the team with 11 goals and a trio of assists on the year.
- Carlie Henning has started all five games in goal for the Cavaliers this season and has made 36 saves, while allowing 52 goals on the year.
