Johnson City, TN – In the Converse Track and Field Team's only regular season indoor Meet of the season, the Valkyries traveled to Tennessee to participate in the Buccaneer Track and Field Invitational. While they wished they could have had more indoor competitions, Coach Morton and his team were ready to take full advantage of the opportunity to compete against, not only NCAA Division II competition, but NCAA Division I as well.
The Valkyries started the day off with Senior
Hayley Disco setting a personal best in the in the Women's Weight Throw, finishing in 7
th place out of 17. In addition to being her personal best, it was the second-best finish in the history of the Converse program. In fact, she placed higher than a number of NCAA Division I competition. Disco finished the event with a mark of 13.39m, while fellow Converse teammate,
Mackenzie Weatherford placed 17
th with a mark of 8.44m.
In another record setting performance, Freshman
Bayley Robinson, who was named this past week's Converse Athlete of the Week, placed 10
th in the Women's 800 meters with a time of 2:31.35. Her time ranks the 4
th best for the event in Converse history. Robinson and
Caroline Felkel also finished 13
th (Felkel) and 14
th (Robinson) in the Women's One Mile event.
The Valkyries will be back in action tomorrow for the 2
nd day of the Buccaneer Track and Field Invitational. They will look to continue their day one history making performances and then carry that momentum into their outdoor season. All event results can be followed live
