Virginia Beach, VA – The Women's Track and Field team traveled to the Commonwealth of Virginia to compete in the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championships. The event took place at the newly built Virginia Beach Sports Center, which has a state-of-the-art indoor facility. Even though the outdoor season is quickly approaching, the Valkyries were anxious to have an opportunity to compete for a championship.
The highlight of the day for Converse came in the Women's Distance Medley Relay. In the finals, the Valkyries finished 3
rd, which gave the team of
Bayley Robinson,
Trenell Boyd,
Emorie Thrasher and
Piper Grant All-Conference Honors. In addition,
Daeja Belton finished 4
th in the 60 Meter Hurdles and Krishalya Boyd finished 5
th overall in the 60 Meter Dash. Rounding out the top 8
th place finishers, which gives the team points, was
Bayley Robinson with a 5
th place finish in the 800 meters and the team of Krishalya Boyd,
Breyanna Brown,
Bayley Robinson and
Quiana Suber took home 4
th place in the 4x400 Relay.
With Converse's success on the day, the Valkyries finished tied for 7
th overall in the team scores. As they showed today, Coach Morton's team is ready to compete in the outdoor season, after showcasing the team's emerging talent. Converse will begin their outdoor season in March, but in the meantime, they will enjoy their ride home from Virginia Beach knowing they turned in solid performances.
