Charlotte, N.C. – The Converse University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Royals challenge this past weekend, the women finished in 21^st place, while the men's team finished 11^th overall.   
 
The women's cross country team was the top Conference Carolinas team in the Gold Division race on Friday night. The Valkyries finished with a team average time of 19:58.24 and placed ahead of conference foes Erskine, King and North Greenville. The Valkyries also finished ahead of Gardner-Webb and The Citadel on Friday evening.
 
Carson Towe was once again the pace setter for the Valkyries this weekend and finished 87^th overall with a time of 19:05.6. Aubrie Heck came in second on the team with a time of 19:49.9 and Libby Harvey rounded out the Valkyries top-three with a time of 20:06.9.
 
The men's team placed 11^th overall and finished ahead of Francis Marion and just behind Southern Wesleyan. The Valkyries averaged an 8K time of 28:16.04 as a team in the event. Luis Rios Brena was once again the pace setter for the Valkyries as he ran a 26:20.1 8K. Spenser Baily finished second on the team with a time of 27:33.7 and DreQuan Guyton rounded out the Valkyries top-three with a time of 28:06.2.
