Crusaders Pull Away Late In Double Dip

TIGERVILLE, S.C.- The Converse Softball team put up a strong effort against North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday afternoon, but ultimately fell 5-0 and 7-0.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORES

Brett Harvey recorded two hits in the loss. Tristan Harvey, Elizabeth Aguilar and Anna Bennett each picked up a hit.

Courtney Walls took the loss in game one pitching 5.2 innings allowing four runs (three earned) off six hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One: Converse 0, North Greenville 5

Tristan Harvey started the contest with a walk.  Ashton Coker switched places with Harvey after a fielder's choice.  Anna Bennett doubled to center field to put runners in scoring position with two outs.  A groundout ended the rally.

NGU cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the second with two runs off a hit and a Converse miscue.

Converse had a chance to get a run back in the top of the third.  Tristan Harvey reached on an infield single followed by Elizabeth Aguilar with a base hit to left field.  The Valkyries loaded the bases on a fielder's choice with one out.  A strikeout and a popup ended the rally.

Brett Harvey picked up a hit in the top of the sixth inning but was left stranded.

North Greenville scored three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the contest 5-0.

Game Two: Converse 0, North Greenville 7

Converse had a hard time finding gaps in the nightcap picking up one hit (Brett Harvey) and a walk by Elizabeth Aguilar.

Brett Harvey broke up the no-hit bid in the top of the third on a single to right field.

NGU scratched across the first run of the contest in the bottom of the third on a double to center.

The Crusaders put a cushion between them and the Valkyries in the bottom of the fourth scoring three runs in the inning to lead 4-0.

NGU added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the contest 7-0.

UP NEXT

Converse returns home for the first time in a month on April 1 in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader against Barton.  First pitch is at 2pm.
