BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Converse Tennis team picked up their first Conference Carolinas win of the season defeating Lees-McRae 7-2 on the road on Friday afternoon. The Valkyries have won three straight and winners of five of the last six matches.

Converse improves to 8-4 all-time against Lees-McRae and winners of the last six matches against the Bobcats.
Steffi Kong and Alex Schelesner started the Valkyries off on the right foot with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Kaitlin Knight and Taylor Parrott followed suit with an 8-4 win at No. 2.
Morgan Trask and Carlie Peeler gave the Valkyries the 3-0 advantage after doubles play with a tough fought 8-7 (7-4) win at No. 3.
Morgan Trask put the Valkyries up 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles. Kaitlin Knight would clinch the match with her 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles.
Alex Schlesener and Taylor Parrott picked up three set victories after dropping their first sets. Schlesener fell 6-4 in the first, but would rebound with a 7-5 and 6-4 set to take No. 2 singles. Parrott dropped a 6-1 decision before winning the match 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.
Steffi Kong fought to a three set defeat forcing the third set with a second set 7-5 win.
