SUMTER, S.C.- In the third straight appearance and sixth overall, the Valkyries tennis fell to the top-seeded Erskine 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tennis Championships in Sumter, S.C. at the Palmetto Tennis Center on Friday morning.
Converse (6-15) was unable to gain any momentum against the top-seeded Erskine (16-5) falling behind in the doubles section 3-0.
In the first doubles, Kaitlin Knight and Margaret Pridmore dropped the decision 8-2. Samantha Sheffield and Alex Schlesener fell at the No. 2 doubles 8-1. Taylor Littlejohn-Barr and Klaire Rouse came up short 8-4 at the third slot.
During singles competition, the Fleet earned two straight set victories to take the match 5-0.
The Valkyries end their season with a record of 6-15. Klaire Rouse ends her career with the most singles victories in a career with 24. Rouse recorded the most singles victories in a single season with 14 and most doubles victories in a single season with 12 this season.
Samantha Sheffield will leave the program with the most doubles victories in program history with 19 doubles victories.
