Box Score 2 WILSON, N.C.- The Valkyries softball team ended their inaugural season against Barton on Sunday afternoon dropping a pair of low scoring outings, 3-0 and 1-0.
Converse ends the season with a 7-33 overall record and 1-21 in Conference Carolinas action.
The Valkyries managed five hits in the twinbill and seven walks. Anna Bennett drew two walks in the first game.
Game One: Barton 3, Converse 0
The Valkyries' bats were silent in the first game as Converse was unable to tally a hit in the contest but did draw four walks.
Barton (21-24, 9-13) started off the scoring in the bottom of the first inning after a lead-off triple to start the inning. The Bulldogs singled on a bunt to score the first run of the game.
The Bulldogs would add some insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth after two walks and a sacrifice bunt put runners on the corners.. A sac fly to right followed by a double plated two runs for the 3-0 lead.
Game Two: Barton 1, Converse 0
Converse started the nightcap off with a Maddison Lukens single down the right field line. Tristan Harvey moved Lukens to second on a sac bunt. Lukens would move to third on a ground out but was stranded to end the first inning.
Barton tallied the lone run of the contest in the bottom of the first on a one out double down the left field line.
Barton looked to add on in the bottom of the third after a walk and a single with two out put runners into scoring position before the runner was thrown out heading to third from right field.
Converse looked to tie or take the lead in the top of the seventh. Morgan Marlow singled to left center followed by Bri Putnam's base knock put the Valkyries in business. With two outs Marissa Steadman drew a walk to load the bases before a ground out ended the game.
