Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Converse softball dropped a Conference Carolinas doubleheader against North Greenville on Saturday afternoon, 7-0 and 4-1.

Converse (6-30, 1-19) was led offensively by Maddison Lukens (Chandler, Ariz.) picking up three hits.  Kelsie Land (Keller, Texas), Anna Bennett (Fulton, Md.), Mckayla Davis (Concord, N.C.), and Tristan Harvey (Anacoco, La.) recorded one hit apiece.

The Valkyries return to the field on Thursday, April 21 against Brevard in a non-conference doubleheader.  First pitch is at 1pm.

Game One: North Greenville 7, Converse 0

North Greenville started off the doubleheader scoring three runs off three hits and a Converse miscue.

Converse looked to respond in the bottom half of the inning.  Maddy Lukens singled through the left side of the infield to start the rally.  With one out, Anna Bennett doubled down the left field line to put runners in scoring position.  The Valkyrie rally went by the way side after a lineout and strike out to end the inning.

NGU pushed across another run in the top of the second after a fielding error allowed the Crusader batter to come around to score.

The Crusaders tacked on three more runs in the top of the fourth to move to a 7-0 lead.

Converse was unable to scratch across a run in the final three innings as NGU took game one 7-0.

Game Two: North Greenville 4, Converse 1

The Valkyries' bats went silent in the night cap picking up only one hit.  The Crusaders notched the first run of the second game in the top of the first inning.

NGU would add three more runs in top of the second to move out to a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second inning, Mckayla Davis reached on error by the center fielder.  Marissa Steadman (Pauline, S.C.) pushed Davis to second after reaching on an error.  Back-to-back strikeouts ended the threat.

Converse picked up their first hit of the nightcap in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Maddy Lukens singled to left field to start the inning.  Tristan Harvey pushed Lukens to second after reaching on an error.

The Valkyries were able to push across a run in the inning thanks to a throwing error by the shortstop scoring Lukens from second to cut the deficit down to 4-1.  A groundout ended the inning and the threat.
