Valkyries Pick Up Huge Win On Senior Day Over LMC

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Converse tennis team picked up a huge Conference Carolinas victory against Lees-McRae, 6-3, on senior day on Sunday afternoon. Converse improves to 6-11 on the season and moves to 2-6 in league play.

Senior Taylor Littlejohn-Barr (York, S.C.) clinched the match for the Valkyries winning at the number five singles 6-2, 6-3. Senior Klaire Rouse (Gilbert, Ariz.) extended the lead with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win at the sixth slot.

Kaitlin Knight (Sumter, S.C.) picked up the win at the number three singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

The Valkyries started off the match with a sweep of doubles 8-5, 8-4, 8-1 respectively. Seniors Littlejohn-Barr and Rouse cruised to an 8-1 doubles win at the third slot to start off the match.

Alex Schlesener (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and senior Samantha Sheffield (Birmingham, Ala.) doubled up their opponent with an 8-4 win at the second.

Kaitlin Knight and senior Margaret Pridmore (Wodonga, Australia) fought back to win 8-5 in the number one singles.

Converse returns to the courts Monday April 11 to face USC-Sumter. Match starts at 3pm.
