Box Score BREVARD, N.C.- Converse lacrosse was unable to overcome the four goal deficit early in the second half as Brevard took the 10-8 non-conference victory on Tuesday afternoon.
Converse (3-7) received hat-tricks from Aubrie Lauderdale (Greenville, S.C.) and Laura Starkes (Whitby, Ontario) with three goals each. Brittni Jones (Lees Summit, Mo.) and Kasey Halodik (Waxhaw, N.C.) netted a goal apiece. Lauderdale recorded an assist in the loss.
Brevard (5-3) started off the contest striking quickly with a free position goal just thirty seconds into the match. Brittni Jones would tie things up off the feed from Lauderdale less than 90 seconds later. Aubrie Lauderdale's back-to-back goals would tie things again at 2-all and 3-all.
The Tornados would extend their lead to 5-3 with less than 10 minutes left in the first half. Laura Starkes would tie things up before the break with back-to-back goals, one off a free position attempt.
Brevard did their damage coming out of the half scoring four unanswered goals to jump out in front 9-5 midway through the half.
Aubrie Lauderdale ended the run with 13:16 left in the contest to bring it to 9-6 in favor of the Tornados. Brevard added another goal shortly after to make it a 10-6 game.
Laura Starkes and Kasey Halodik scored unassisted goals to bring the Valkyries closer but was unable to close the gap as Converse fell 10-8.
The Valkyries step back into Conference Carolinas play on Thursday, March 24 against Lees-McRae on the road.
