SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Converse Tennis team was handed a 9-0 loss in a non-conference bout against Carson-Newman on Sunday afternoon.
The Valkyries (3-3) battled in the doubles portion but was unable to pick up a win. Klaire Rouse (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Taylor Littlejohn-Barr (York, S.C.) battled back from a 7-3 deficit but would later fall 9-7 in the number three slot.
Alex Schlesener (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and Samantha Sheffield (Birmingham, Ala.) fell in the number two doubles spot 8-5.
Kaitlin Knight (Sumter, S.C.) fought tough in the second singles slot falling 6-3, and 7-5. Margaret Pridmore (Wodonga, Austraila) bounced back from her first set before falling 6-3 in the second.
Converse opens up the Conference Carolinas slate on Tuesday, March 1 against Erskine at home.
