SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Converse Tennis team picked up their third win in a row with a 7-1 victory over the visiting Winston-Salem Rams in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Converse (3-2) started off posting five wins in singles action.  Alex Schlesener (Stone Mountain, Ga.) picked up the win at the number one singles with a hard fought battle winning 6-4, 7-5.  Kaitlin Knight (Sumter, S.C.) picked up the win in the second slot with a 6-3, 6-1 victory.  Margaret Pridmore (Wodonga, Australia) and Caroline Bertling (Greer, S.C.) lost only one game winning 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0 respectively.  Klaire Rouse (Gilbert, Ariz.) remained perfect in singles action in the spring with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the fourth slot.

Abby Roth (Travelers Rest, S.C.) dropped her match in the sixth slot.  Roth won the first set 6-2 but dropped the second set 6-2 to move to the tiebreaker.  Roth would dropped the tiebreaker 10-7.

Converse picked up both doubles victories winning 8-1 and 8-0.  Klaire Rouse and Taylor Littlejohn-Barr (York, S.C.) improved to 5-0 on the season with an 8-0 victory at the number three doubles. Margaret Pridmore and Kaitlin Knight won 8-1 at the first doubles.  Alex Schlesener and Samantha Sheffield (Birmingham, Ala.) was leading 5-3 in their doubles but did not finish due to court conditions.

Converse returns to the courts on Wednesday, February 24 against Anderson on the road.
