Women’s Tennis Faces Off With UNC Greensboro on Sunday

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – The Converse University women's tennis team fell to UNC Greensboro 7-0 Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

The Valkyries will count the match as an exhibition and remain 1-4 on the season. UNC Greensboro improves to 1-9.

The Spartans swept all six singles matches and claimed the doubles point to secure the match. Seniors Khushi Kharb and Lais Martins won the No. 1 doubles match decisively, but the Valkyries dropped the other two.

In singles, the Valkyries were unable to secure any sets against a strong UNCG lineup:
  • At No. 1, Kharb lost to Sophia Cedeno 6-7(1), 4-6 in a competitive opener.
  • Senior Laurel Maynor fell at No. 2 to Sara Kostic 1-6, 0-6.
  • Sophomore Tamanna Panwar dropped a tight first set but lost 5-7, 1-6 at No. 3 to Sydney Bly.
  • Freshman Camille Lacombe was defeated 0-6, 0-6 at No. 4 by Ivet Sala-Sanchez.
  • Martins lost 2-6, 0-6 at No. 5 to Kayley Bushnell.
  • Sophomore Romy Rueff fell 0-6, 4-6 at No. 6 to Sofia Somoano.
Next Up For Converse:
The Valkyries will return to Division-II action on Saturday, March 7, as they host Georgia College at the Rose. The match is set for 1 P.M.
