COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Converse Tennis team picked up a 9-0 sweep over Columbia College in non-conference tennis action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Valkyries started off the match with sweeps in doubles action. Klaire Rouse (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Taylor Littlejohn-Barr (York, S.C.) remained unbeaten in doubles action for the spring picking up the 8-0 doubles victory. Kaitlin Knight (Sumter, S.C.) and Margaret Pridmore (Wodonga, Austraila) picked up the win in the first flight with an 8-2 advantage. Alex Schlesener (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and Samantha Sheffield (Birmingham, Ala.) scored the sweep in doubles with the 8-2 victory.
Klaire Rouse continued her winning ways in singles action with a 6-3, 6-2 decision in the fifth slot. Caroline Bertling (Greer, S.C.) picked up her first collegiate win of the spring with a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the sixth flight. Kaitlin Knight and Margaret Pridmore lost one game to win 6-1, 6-0 decisions. Taylor Littlejohn-Barr won her flight 6-2, 6-3 while Alex Schlesener picked up the win in the first flight taking her match 6-1, 7-5.
Converse returns to action Wednesday, February 17 against Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte, N.C. First serve is at 2pm.
