SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Valkyries lacrosse team was handed their first loss of the season at the hands of #12 Mount Olive, 20-2 in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday evening.

Converse (1-1, 1-1) had goals scored by Elizabeth Gabriele (Simpsonville, S.C.) and Chelsea Worrell (Orlando, Fla.).  Brittni Jones (Lees Summit, Mo.) added an assist.

Nationally ranked Mount Olive (2-0, 1-0) posted the first nine goals of the match in a fast moving first half.  The Valkyries ended the run when Brittni Jones picked up the ground ball and threw an outlet pass to Gabriele in the middle of the attacking area.  Gabriele would finish the attack finding the back of the net for the Valkyries' first goal.

Mount Olive added two more goals to jump out to an 11-1 advantage heading into the break.  Converse was unable to slow down the Trojan attack as UMO posted nine goals in the second half to increase their lead to 20-1.

Chelsea Worrell would score late in the match on a free position shot.

Converse returns to action next weekend, February 20 at home against Tusculum.  Opening draw is at 2pm.
