Box Score ATLANTA, GA.- Converse Lacrosse bounced back after two tough losses with a 16-6 win over Oglethorpe in non-conference lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon. Converse improves to 6-6 on the season, while Oglethrope drops to 1-10 on the season.
Aubrie Lauderdale (Greenville, S.C.) and Brittni Jones (Lees Summit, Mo.) recorded their first career hat-tricks in the win over the Stormy Petrels. Lauderdale scored four goals, while Jones tallied three. Sydnie Hickey (Baltimore, Md.), McKenzie Reid (Simpsonville, S.C.) and Chelsea Worrell (Orlando, Fla.) tallied two goals apiece.
Lisa Carter (Birmingham, Ala.) registered her first goal of the season, while Theresa Lasal (Fayetteville, Ga.) and Elizabeth Gabriele (Simpsonville, S.C.) recorded a goal apiece. Laura Starkes (Whitby, Ontario) tallied two assists. Jessi Walters (Fort Mill, S.C.) recorded an assist.
Converse controlled the draw at a 15-9 clip. Chelsea Worrell, Sydnie Hickey and Theresa Lasal registered three draw controls each. Brittni Jones and Sydnie Hickey caused four turnovers each.
Alex Gurecki (Farmingdale, N.Y.) picked up the win in cage totaling 13 saves and allowed six goals.
Converse fell behind early 1-0 before scoring goals at the 23:54 mark and 23:09 marks of the first half and never looked back. Elizabeth Gabriele scored on a free position shot followed by an unassisted goal by McKenzie Reid to take a 2-1 advantage.
Aubrie Lauderdale tallied back-to-back goals, one of those assisted by Laura Starkes, to take a 4-1 lead before Oglethorpe tallied their second goal of the match.
Sydnie Hickey struck for her first goal of the match 14 seconds after the Stormy Petrels scored their second goal. Chelsea Worrell scored twice and Aubrie Lauderdale registered a hat-trick in the first half to give the Valkyries the momentum and an 8-2 lead with 11:50 mark of the first half.
Brittni Jones scored twice and a goal by Sydnie Hickey to give the Valkyries an 11-4 advantage heading into the break.
Out of the break Converse struck four times to take a 10 goal lead midway through the second stanza. Theresa Lasal and McKenzie Reid scored followed by Lauderdale recording her fourth goal of the match and Jones nabbing her hat-trick goal.
Lisa Carter recorded her first goal of the season scoring with 6:28 remaining in the match. Oglethrope scored twice in the second half to move the score 16-6.
Converse hosts Columbia (S.C.) Monday, March 30 at 7pm.
