SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Converse Tennis picked up its first win of the season against Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae at home on Sunday afternoon defeating the Bobcats 5-4.

Klaire Rouse (Gilbert, Ariz.) secured the match for the Valkyries defeating LMC's Rachel Grether 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 position.  Teammate Kaitlin Knight (Sumter, S.C.) finished off LMC's Green 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 slot.  Samantha Sheffield (Birmingham, Ala.) and Taylor Littlejohn-Barr (York, S.C.) battled tough in the No. 4 and No. 5 tilts before falling in three sets after winning the first set.  Rouse and Knight's singles victories gave the Valkyries a 5-0 advantage and ultimately taking the match 5-4.

Alex Schlesener (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and Samantha Sheffield gave the Valkyries the early advantage taking their doubles match 8-4.  Taylor Littlejohn-Barr and Mary Kaitlyn Flynn (Duncan, S.C.) secured their match winning 8-3.  Kaitlin Knight and Margaret Pridmore (Wodonga, Australia) allowed the Valkyries to sweep the doubles session winning their match 9-7 and take a 3-0 advantage into the singles session.

Converse returns to the court Friday and Saturday, March 20-21, hosting Conference Carolinas foes Barton (Friday, 3:30 pm) and Mount Olive (Saturday, 11:00 am).
