Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Valkyries took on the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive, leading in the beginning of the first half but couldn't keep up with the fast pace, ultimately falling 16-6. The Valkyries are now 7-7 overall and 1-3 in league play, while Mount Olive is 8-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.
For the Trojans, leading in scoring was Michelle Fortier with five goals, right behind her was Riann Daziel with four goals. Alexa Millus and Katie McGovern both contributed two goals, while their teammates Saffron Snethen, Heather Cockburn, and Alysha Kulka all had one goal each. Leading in ground balls was Katie McGovern with three, and leading in draw controls was Michelle Fortier with nine. Hannah Knight spent forty-three minutes in the goal with four saves and allowing three goals. Sarah Snell spent seventeen minutes in the goal with four saves and allowing three goals.
Converse led in ground balls with fourteen compared to Mount Olive's twelve. The Trojans dominated though in draw controls picking up twenty while Converse only picked up three.
For Converse, leading in scoring was Emma Murphy with two goals, her teammates Amelia Helm, Jordy Taylor, Chelsea Worrell, and Sydnie Hickey each had one goal. Leading in ground balls was Chelsea Worrell with four, while her teammate Rachel Halley lead in draw controls with two. Alex Gurecki spent forty-five minutes in the goal with nine saves and allowing fifteen goals. Sandra Ponce spent fourteen minutes in the goal with no saves and allowing one goal.
The Valkyries will travel to Due West, SC to take on the Flying Fleet of Erskine College on April 9th at 5:00 PM.
