Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse College Valkyries took on the Crusaders of Belmont-Abbey College Saturday afternoon in their second conference game of the season. It was a tight game the first fifteen minutes and then the Crusaders took off leaving the Valkyries struggling to catch back up. The Crusaders ultimately defeated the Valkyries 12-4. Belmont Abbey is now 3-0 over all while the Valkyries are 1-3 overall.
For the Crusaders Mackenzie Miller led the offense with a total of four goals. Kassie Easter and Shanin Darley both contributed three goals on the afternoon. Leading the defense was Jordan Hofmeister with four ground balls while teammate Katy Conner picked up six draw controls for the Crusaders. Goalkeeper Natasha Whitman played all sixty minutes only giving up four goals and had eight saves on the day.
Four Valkyries contributed goals today, Emma Murphy, Chelsea Worrell, Jordy Taylor and Amelia Helm each with one goal apiece. Emma Murphy also led the defense with a total of seven picked up ground balls. Goalkeeper Alex Gurecki stood in the goal all sixty minutes with a total of twelve saves.
The Valkyries will host Lake Erie, March 4th with a 4:00 PM start time.
