HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Valkyries tennis team defeated Coker College 5-4 by sweeping in doubles. The Valkyries are now 1-4 overall while the Cobras of Coker College fall to 0-4 overall.
Converse went 3-0 in doubles against Coker with the second match being decided by a tiebreaker. Converse picked up their first win in doubles this season. Laura Morales (Anderson, S.C.) and Tanisha Thomas (Badin, N.C.) both won their singles matches for the afternoon. The set against Marisa Esformes (Miami, F.L.) and Jessi Campos went into two extra sets with Esformes ultimately dropping to Campos. Esformes was not the only Valkyrie to go into tiebreaker sets for singles as Claudia Gunn (Brisbane, Australia) and Kelsey Rembert (Birmingham, A.L.) both lost their matches in the tiebreaker.
The Valkyries will host the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College Wednesday, February 26th with a 3:00 PM start time.
