SPARTANBURG, SC- The Converse tennis team picked up their second conference win of the season Tuesday, defeating the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey, 7-2.
Marisa Esformes and Samantha Sheffield continue to perform at a high level as a team, routing their team-high sixth win of the season as the Valkyries swept Belmont Abbey in doubles competition, 3-0.
Olivia Self becomes the first Converse player this season to reach the 10 win mark after claiming a third set tiebreaker at #1 singles. Belmont Abbey's Katharine Miller battled back at #2 singles after dropping the first set to the purple and gold's Kasey Anderson to claim the second set, 5-7, and the decisive third set, 4-10. Esformes and Sheffield performed well individually, each denying the Crusaders a set victory in their respective matches. Converse would go 2-3 in tiebreaker matches on the day after Klaire Rouse claimed the team's final victory of the day at #5 singles, 6-0, 5-7, 10-4.
The tennis team returns to the courts tomorrow afternoon in conference action as they play host to the Crusaders of North Greenville. The teams are scheduled to take the court at 3:30pm
