SPARTANBURG,SC- The Flying Fleet would win in straight sets Friday, as the purple and gold drop their second straight home match, fifth overall, 0-9. The teams traded volleys early with Erskine, posting a pair of 8-5 victories in #1 and #2 doubles. Erskine would take an early 3-0 match lead, sweeping the Valkyries at #3 doubles, 8-0.
The defending conference champion would have no signs of letting up, holding Converse to only four set points in singles competition. Olivia Self would fall in a close two-set match to Erskine's Corin Hallman, 6-1, 6-1 at #1 singles. Kasey Anderson and Klaire Rouse each added a set point, but would each respectively fall in their individual matches 6-1, 6-0.
The Flying Fleet share the second best conference record through five matches at 2-0 (2-2 overall), while the purple and gold fall to 0-5 overall.
Due to weather conditions, the Valkyries will travel to USC Upstate on Sunday as the host team, for a 10:00am serve time.
