Outdoor Season Continues in Tar Heel State for Valkyries

DAVIDSON and RALEIGH, N.C. – The Converse University track and field teams continued outdoor season this past weekend, splitting up with some Valkyries competing at the Davidson Relays hosted by Davidson College and some competing at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State University.

Men's Notes:

Junior Dorian Bomar finished first for the Valkyries at the Raleigh Relays in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.55 in 22nd place. Senior Devron Davis finished in 25th place, just one hundredth of a second behind Bomar.
Senior Isaac Gilmore finished the 400 meters with a time of 48.04 in 30th place.
Sophomore Dre'Kevan Thomas finished 31st in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.48. Junior Nick Tibolla finished the event with a time of 14.73.
The 4x100-meter relay took home sixth place with a time of 40.54.
Freshman Neale Johnson hit a mark of 6.83 meters in the long jump.
Over in Davidson, junior Denard White ran a time of 23.91 in the 200 meters.
He was also the team's top finisher in the 400 meters with a time of 54.15. Fellow junior Damarion Goodine finished the same race with a time of 55.15.
Freshman Benjamin Notarangelo was the Valkyries' top finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.74 in 13th place. Junior Hunter Heron finished the event in a time of 2:00.96.
Sophomores Ander Vera Moleres and Alex Porter were the Valkyries' top finishers in the mile with times of 4:32.51 and 4:38.96, respectively.
Junior Jacob Joe hit a time of 1:00.85 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Sophomore Marti Ruiz Barreda finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 9:37.11. Sophomore Reece Evans finished 11th with a time of 10:40.67.
Junior Aubrey Hemphill hit a mark of 45.33 meters in the hammer throw.

Women's Notes:

Freshman Grace Davis ran a time of 11:54 in the 100-meter dash at the Raleigh Relays, taking home fifth place in the Division-I heavy field.
She also finished the 200 meters with a time of 24.59, finishing 30th.
Junior Jermyra Bethel ran a time of 56.34 in the 400 meters.
Junior Kamille Cunningham ran a time of 14.79 in the 100-meter hurdles.
Sophomore Anna Katherine Evatt hit a mark of 35.84 in the discus.
Sophomore Madison Mateen ran a time of 12.89 in the 100-meter dash at the Davidson Relays.
Mateen also ran a time of 26.31 in the 200 meters. Fellow sophomore Kennedy Wright ran a time of 26.35 in the same event. They finished 19th and 20th, respectively.
Sophomore Peyton MacMillan finished 22nd in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.29.
Fellow sophomore Sara Aguiar Torre ran the 800 in a time of 2:22.69, finishing 13th.
Juniors Paisley Stepp and Mackenzie Crandell finished the mile with times of 5:34.24 and 5:57.20, respectively.
Wright was the team's top finisher in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.89 in sixth place. Senior D'Asia Thomas finished with a time of 15.47 in 14th place.
Freshman Kyla Beasley finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.22. Wright followed in seventh place with a time of 1:07.19. Senior Latavia Bracey-Ransom ran a time of 1:11.99 in 13th place.
Freshmen Ines Pierefitte and Angelica Panchelyuga finished fourth and fifth in the steeplechase with times of 11:55.75 and 14:21.50, respectively.
Thomas hit a mark of 1.53 in the high jump, placing seventh.
Graduate student Alana Webster finished 12th with a mark of 9.58 meters in the triple jump.
Sophomore Asha Curry hit a mark of 10.46 meters in the shot put.
