SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse men's swim team dominated Emmanuel from start to finish on Saturday afternoon inside the Montgomery Student Center, picking up a 191-71 victory over the Lions.
With the win the Valkyries improve to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas action this season. Converse has won six straight dual meets and they are a perfect 3-0 at home this season.
The Valkyries had the top three performers on Saturday afternoon,
Louis Milczynski led the way with 609.7 points. Milczynski finished with three first place finishes and one runner-up finish on the day.
Jay Owens finished second on the team with 605 points and
Henry Stockton finished third on the team with 582 points.
In the 200 medley relay event, the Valkyries finished first and second in the race. The Valkyries A team made up of Owens,
Tyler Leal, Milczynski and Lilley won the event with a time of 1:33.15. While the Valkyries B team of
Alexander Nichols,
Daniel Merzthal,
Alexander Kuznetsov and
Keith Rogers finished second with a time of 1:36.13.
The 1000 free event was one of the most competitive races on the day. Stockton won the event with a time of 9:54.81, edging out his nearest competitor by two seconds.
Mason Reed and
Davis Dial finished in third and fourth place respectively, both athletes also set personal bests in event.
Micah Lesley won the 200 free event with a time of 1:45.97,
Daniel Merzthal finished second in the event with a time of 1:46.08 and Nichols finished third with a season best time of 1:47.09. Chris Olcott,
Henry Winstead and
Luigi Ballivian finished in fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
Owens won the 50 back event with personal best time of 23.70 seconds and Lilley finished second with a time of 23.97 seconds. Kir Lyzhin finished sixth in the event with a time of 28.28 seconds.
Tyler Leal won the 50 breast event with a time of 27.09 seconds, Olcott finished third in the event with a time of 28.90 seconds and
Gavin Gordy finished fourth in the event.
Jaxon Tschikof and
Manny Schlichtmann finished in sixth and seventh place respectively.
Milczynski won the 100 fly event with a time of 51.70 seconds, Kuznetsov was close behind with a runner-up finish in the event.
Mason Reed finished third in the event and set a season best time of 54.11.
Coleman Smith finished fifth in the race for the Valkyries with a time of 55.87 seconds.
Rogers and Stockton finished first and second in the 50 free event for the Valkyries. Rogers won the event with a time of 21.68 seconds and Stockton finished a tenth of a second behind.
Alexander Nichols finished fifth overall and Schlichtmann finished seventh in the event.
In the 100 free event, Lilley won with a time of 47.23 seconds, Merzthal finished in second with a time of 47.61 seconds and Rogers finished third with a time of 47.83 seconds. Smith finished in sixth and Tschikof finished ninth in the event for the Valkyries.
Owens won the 100 back event with a time of 51.28 seconds, Nichols finished second with a time of 53.93 seconds and Lesley finished third with a personal best time of 55.83 seconds.
Davis Dial placed fifth, followed by Ballivian in seventh and Lyzhin in eighth place.
Leal finished second in the 100 breast event with a time of 59.59 seconds. Gorday, Olcott, Tschikof and Schlictmann finished in fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth. In the 500 free event, Stockton won with a time of 4:51.92, while Reed finished second with a time of 4:51.97. Lesley finished fourth in the event with a time of 5:04.11.
Milczynski finished second in the 50 fly event with a personal best time of 23.14 seconds. Kuznetsov finished third with a personal best time of 23.75 seconds, Smith finished in fifth, followed by Ballivian in sixth place. Winstead and Lyzhin finished in 10
th and 11
th place respectfully.
Milczynski won the 100 IM event with a time of 53.46 seconds, Owens finished second with a personal best time of 53.93 seconds. Leal, Gordy and Dial finished in fifth, sixth and seventh place, while Winstead finished in ninth place for the Valkyries.
In the 200 free relay, the Valkyries A team of Lilley, Rogers, Merzthal and Stockton finished with a time of 1:25.56. The Converse B team of Kuznetsov, Olcott, Reed and Lesley finished third with a time of 1:29.38 seconds. The Converse C team of Schlichtmann, Dial, Tschikof and Ballivian finished fifth with a time of 1:41.54.
