PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Converse University men's swim team picked up a pair of wins at the UNC Pembroke Swim meet on Saturday afternoon.
The Valkyries defeated Barton 215.00-70.00 and Chowan University by a score of 223.00-63.00. With the wins Converse is now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in Conference Carolinas action this season. The Valkyries are a perfect 4-0 in neutral site competitions.
Henry Stockton was the Valkyries top swimmer on Saturday with 597 points,
Louis Milczynski was second on the team with 571.5 points and
Mason Reed is third on the team with 549 points.
Daniel Merzthal finished fourth on the team with 517 points and
Alexander Nichols finished fifth on the team with 514 points.
The meet started out with the 400 medley relay event, the Converse A team made up of
Joey Lilley,
Louis Milczynski,
Tyler Leal and
Henry Stockton came in first with a total time of 3:33.98. The Converse B team made up of
Alexander Nichols, Chris Olcott,
Mason Reed and
Micah Lesley finished third in the event with a time of 3:43.01.
In the 400 IM event the Valkyries were the only team to have swimmers in the race.
Jay Owens won the race with a time of 4:30.23,
Luigi Ballivian finished second with a time of 4:33.33 and
Gavin Gordy finished third with a time of 4:37.20.
Henry Stockton won the 100 free event with a time of 47.78 seconds and
Daniel Merzthal finished fourth with a time of 48.88 seconds.
Keith Rogers rounded out the top-five with a time of 49.86 seconds.
Joey Lilley won the 50 back event with a time of 24.91 seconds,
Alexander Nichols finished third in the event with a time of 27.41 seconds and
Luigi Ballivian finished fifth with a time of 28.73 seconds.
In the 50 breast event,
Tyler Leal finished second with a time of 27.15 second and
Gavin Gordy finished fifth with a time of 30.17 seconds. The Valkyries swept the podium in the 50 fly event, Kuznetsov won the event with a time of 24.48 seconds.
Henry Stockton finished second in the event with a time of 24.89 seconds and
Micah Lesley finished third with a time of 25.16 seconds.
Mason Reed on the 200 free event with a time of 1:47.71, Nichols came in third with a time of 1:51.93 and
Henry Winstead finished fourth with a time of 1:56.22. Lilley won the 100 back event with a time of 55.16 seconds,
Davis Dial finished third with a time of 1:03.18 and Cole Smith finished fourth with a time of 1:03.60.
Milczynski finished second in the 100 breast event with a time of 58.95 seconds,
Daniel Merzthal finished sixth in the event and
Jaxon Tschikof finished seventh. Kuznetsov, Lesley and Olcott swept the podium in the 100 fly event.
In the 500 free event, Ballivian finished second overall and Dial finished third in the race. Meanwhile, Gordy rounded out the Valkyrie swimmers with a fourth place finish in the event. Milczynski won the 200 IM event with a time of 2:00.19 and
Jay Owens finished second in the event with a time of 2:02.18.
In the 50 free event, Merzthal finished third overall, Rogers finished fourth and Kuznetsov finished fifth in the event for the Valkyries. In the 1650 free event, Stockton Reed and Lesley finished one-two-three in the event.
In the final race of the afternoon, the Converse A team made up of Owens, Merzthal, Lilley and Milczynski won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:14.91. The Converse B team comprised of Leal, Kuznetsov, Olcott and Rogers finished fourth in the race with a time of 3:22.42.
