SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse swim team is back in action this Friday evening in Bristol, Tenn., at Tennessee High School against King and UNC Pembroke.
The Valkyrie swim teams are coming off a split against Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, January 18
th. The women's team defeated the Bears 115-78, while the men's team lost 121-84 to Lenoir-Rhyne.
Last time out on the women's side, Katie Beebe,
Alison Ludeman,
Kaitlin Williams,
Julia Beebe, and
Mayle Iwanski were the top finishers for the Valkyries. Katie Beebe won two individual events in the 200 free and the 200 fly events. Ludeman finished the meet with a first place finish in the 50 free event and second in the 500 free event. Williams won the 1,000 free event and finished second in the 100 free event.
Julia Beebe won the 500 free event and finished third in the 200 free event on Saturday. Iwanski finished second in the 50 free event and third in the 100 free event.
Last time out on the men's side,
Henry Stockton, Louis Miczynski,
Daniel Merzthal, and
Tyler Leal were the top performers for the Valkyries. Stockton won the 200 free event and finished second in the 500 free event against the Bears. Milczynski finished second in the 200 breast event and in the 200 IM event on Saturday Morning. Merzthal finished second in the 50 free event and third in the 100 free event against Lenoir-Rhyne. Leal finished third in both the 200 breast event and in the 200 IM event.
UNC Pembroke only has a women's swim team and is 4-1 overall this season and 2-0 in Conference this season. The Braves are coming off a 179-80 loss to Campbell last Saturday afternoon. Fatima Portillo claimed the 200-yard butterfly event with a time of 2:09.16, while Fabiana Pesce won the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:09.16.
The women's swim team for King is 2-5 overall this season and 2-2 in Conference Carolinas action. The Tornado are coming off a 157-94 loss to Milligan on Saturday afternoon. On the men's side, the Tornado are 4-3 overall and 3-2 in Conference Carolinas play. Most recently the Tornado are coming off a 167.5-87.5 loss to Milligan on Saturday afternoon.
