Men’s Tennis Prepares for No. 10 Lander

The Teams:
Converse (5-4, 0-1 Conference Carolinas) at Lander (8-1, 1-0 Peach Belt)
Series: Lander leads 2-0
Last Meeting: Lander won 7-0, Feb. 16, 2023

Time Change: The Valkyries' match with the Bearcats has been moved up to 1 P.M.

Converse Notes:
  • Converse enters the matchup on a three-match skid, most recently losing on the road to Emmanuel 5-2.
  • The Valkyries' best courts are No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Converse has a 7-2 record at both positions.
  • Freshman Takuma Furumaki owns six of the team's wins at No. 2 singles. He owns one win at each doubles position.
  • Sophomore Stanley Waters has posted the most doubles victories of any Valkyrie with five. Two of those wins came with freshman Ben Hyde-Smith and two came with junior Cameron Davies.

Lander Notes:
  • Despite winning eight of their nine matches this season, Lander enters Tuesday's match on a one-match losing streak after dropping a nonconference contest to national No. 5 Valdosta State.
  • The closest match Lander has had all season came in a 4-3 victory over Mount Olive on Feb. 9.
  • Despite a top-ten team ranking, Lander currently has no one ranked in the ITA's singles rankings. Two Bearcat duos are ranked in the latest doubles rankings: Hugo Regner and Matthew De Groot (No. 43) and Markus Sorensen and Nick Beamish (No. 48).
  • Hugo has played all matches at No. 1 singles this season. Including tournaments and exhibitions, he has a 12-3 singles record. Competing at No. 1 doubles as well, he, paired with De Groot, have a 14-9 record including exhibitions and tournaments.
