SUMTER, S.C. – The third-seeded and No. 33 Converse men's tennis team secured a 4-1 victory over the sixth-seeded Francis Marion Patriots on Thursday morning to secure their spot in Friday's semifinal.

Juniors Ben Hyde-Smith and Takuma Furumaki won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Senior Marty Letessier and sophomore Lucas Walker won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles to secure the point for Converse.

Sophomore Mathis Blary won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Furumaki won 6-4, 7-6 at No. 4 singles, winning his second-set tie breaker 8-6.

Junior Manuel Roncero traded 6-4 set wins in the first two sets of his match at No. 6 singles and rolled to a 6-0 victory in his third set, sending Converse to the semifinals.

Next Up For Converse:
The Valkyries are back on the courts tomorrow, April 24, for their semifinal matchup against the No. 2 Belmont Abbey Crusaders. The match is set to begin at 9 A.M.
