No. 31 Valkyries Roll Bobcats

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The No. 31 Converse University men's tennis team continued their stellar season with a 6-1 conference victory over the Lees-McRae Bobcats.

With the win, Converse improves to 13-6 overall and 9-2 in Conference Carolinas play, pushing their win streak to six matches. Lees-McRae falls to 6-7 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

Sophomore Lucas Walker and senior Marty Letessier won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Junior Manuel Roncero and freshman James Hardy secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Sophomore Mathis Blary won 6-3 in consecutive sets at No. 2 singles. Walker nearly did the same, being a game better in his second set at No. 3 singles and winning 6-3, 6-2.

Junior Takuma Furumaki won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4 singles, securing the win for the Valkyries.

Hardy won just as Walker did, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5 singles. Roncero rounded out the match with a 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 6 singles.

Next Up For Converse:
The Valkyries are back in action on Saturday, April 18, as they host the Belmont Abbey Crusaders at the Rose for senior day. The match is set to begin at noon.
