Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – Despite falling in the doubles point, the Converse University men's tennis team (5-3) battled back but fell just short 4-3 to the Limestone Saints. Converse won the first three singles matches completed.

Junior Leopold Morel and sophomore Marty Letessier took the first match of the day winning No. 1 singles impressively 6-1. The Valkyries fell in narrow defeats at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and Limestone secured the point. 

Morel made up the lost ground with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles which Letessier followed up with a two-set 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles.

Freshman Manuel Roncero took No. 5 singles 7-5, 6-3, putting Converse one point away from winning the match.

But the Saints at the other positions rallied and Limestone narrowly secured a 4-3 victory.

The Valkyries return to the courts on Wednesday, March 20 at 2 P.M. as they kick off Conference Carolinas play with a road matchup against the Emmanuel Lions.
