SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – The Converse University men's tennis program announced the signing of two student-athletes to join the team for the 2024-25 season on Thursday: Landon Herbert and Lucas Walker.

Herbert joins the Valkyries from Hanahan. The son of Matthew Herbert and Kelly Corvino, Landon plays tennis for the Hanahan High School Hawks with whom he has earned one varsity letter. In his one year with the varsity team, Herbert earned team MVP honors and finished top 16 in the 2023 South Carolina Boys Singles State Championship. Landon follows in his father's footsteps as a second generation collegiate tennis player.

Walker hails from Eemnes, Utrecht, Netherlands. The son of David and Liane Walker, Lucas is in his final year at the International School of Hilversum located in North Holland. Dating back to 2018, he has an official record of 105-59 in singles play and a 27-14 record in doubles play dating back to 2019. Walker has five wins over opponents with a UTR of 10.00 or higher. Off of the court, Walker is a member of his school's sustainability committee.

"I'm very excited about our incoming players for fall 2024!" stated graduate assistant María Belén Vendrell of the two signees. "Lucas and Landon are two great players that will continue to build this program's future by strengthening our lineup. I can't wait to have them on campus and watch as they succeed on and off the court at Converse!"
