SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's tennis team will look to end a five-game losing skid on Saturday afternoon, when they host North Greenville in the Conference Carolinas season opener at the Converse University Tennis Courts.
This will be the third all-time meeting between Converse and North Greenville. The Valkyries are 2-0 against the Crusaders and even defeated North Greenville 5-2 in the Conference Carolinas Championships last season.
Converse Notes:
- Converse is 2-7 overall this season with a pair of wins against Mars Hill this season. The Valkyries are coming off a 7-0 loss to Georgia College last Saturday.
- Last time out, the Valkyries lone doubles win came at the No. 1 doubles court, as the tandem of Merlin Bellet and Enzo Marcheschi defeated Georgia College's top pair 6-2.
- Leopold Morel currently leads the team with a 6-3 record in singles action this season. Merlin Bellet is second on the team with three wins and Enzo Marcheschi is third on the team with a pair of wins on the year.
- In doubles action, the pairing of Letessier and Morel are 4-3 this season playing predominately at the No.3 doubles flight. The top duo of Bellet and Marcheschi is 3-4 at the No.1 doubles flight this season.
North Greenville Notes:
- North Greenville is 2-5 overall and is 0-1 in away games this season. The Crusaders are coming off a 4-3 win over UVA Wise on Saturday afternoon.
- The Crusaders won the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts. North Greenville secured the match with wins at the No.2, No.3 and No.6 singles flights.
- Anthony Cassini and Alex Kostka are currently tied for the team lead with three wins each at their respective single flights. Giacomo Garini is second on the team with a pair of wins at the No. 2 singles court.
- In doubles action the top two doubles teams of Alex Kostka/Tuur Vos and Anthony Cassini/Lucas Cardoso both have a pair of wins on the season.
