SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's tennis team is back at home tomorrow afternoon with a match against Emmanuel College.
This will be just the second meeting ever between Converse and Emmanuel. The Lions won the only meeting between the two squads 6-1 last season.
Gregoire Legrand was the only Valkyrie to come away with a win in singles action last season.
Converse Notes:
- Converse is 3-11 overall this season and 1-3 in Conference Carolinas action. The Valkyries are coming off a 4-3 loss to #45 Francis Marion on Saturday afternoon.
- Last time out the Valkyries won the doubles point with wins from the tandems of Leopold Morel/Marty Letessier and Gregoire Legrand/Paul Berrouet. Converse lost the top four singles flights, but both Morel and Letessier picked up three set wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles courts.
- Morel leads the team with a 9-5 overall record and a 2-2 record in Conference Carolinas action. Letessier is second on the team with a 5-7 overall record and a 3-1 record in conference action. Letessier is currently on a four-match winning streak in singles play.
- The Valkyries No. 3 doubles team of Morel/Letessier is 7-5 overall this season and 3-1 in Conference Carolinas action. The Valkyries top pairing of Enzo Marcheschi/Merlin Bellet is 5-7 overall this season.
Emmanuel Notes:
- Emmanuel is 6-6 overall and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play this season. The Lions have won three straight matches. However, Emmanuel is 0-4 in away matches this season.
- The Lions are coming off a 7-0 win over King on Saturday afternoon. Emmanuel won the doubles point and started the match off 2-0, with the Tornado forfeiting singles court No. 6. The Lions picked up wins at the other five courts to complete the sweep over King.
- Dorian Verrue leads the team with a 6-6 overall record and a 2-1 record in Conference Carolinas play. Parv Nage and Hassan Badran are second on the team with a 5-6 overall record in singles action this season.
- The No. 2 doubles pairing of Badran/Nage is 9-2 overall on the season and 6-2 at the No. 2 doubles court, while the other two pairings each have a trio of wins on the season.
