SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's tennis team will welcome Augusta on Thursday afternoon to the Converse University Tennis Courts.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams, with Augusta winning the first matchup 6-1 last season. The Valkyries No. 3 doubles team of
Louka Queguiner and
Cameron Davies won the Valkyries only double match of the day and
Paul Berrouet was the only player to find success on the tennis courts against the Jags.
Converse Notes:
- Converse is 2-3 overall this season with a pair of wins against Mars Hill this season. The Valkyries are coming off a 5-2 loss to Limestone on Sunday afternoon.
- Last time out, the Valkyries got off to a strong start by capturing the doubles point after wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. However, in singles action Leopold Morel was the only one that picked up a win at the No. 6 court.
- Morel currently leads the team with a 4-1 record in singles action this season. Merlin Bellet and Enzo Marcheschi are both second on the team with two wins each.
- In doubles action, the duo of Bellet/Marcheschi is 2-1 on the year at No. 1 doubles, while tandem of Morel/Marty Letessier is 2-2 on the season.
Augusta Notes:
- Augusta is 5-0 this season with wins against Benedict, Coker, The Citadel, Emmanuel and Francis Marion. The Jags have spent the majority of the season on the road, as they boast a 4-0 away record.
- Last time out, the Jags defeated Francis Marion 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center. Augusta won the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles flights. The Jags clinched the match with singles wins at the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles courts.
- Quentin Perez is 5-0 this season at the No. 2 singles court, Herick Isago is 4-1 and Arthur Valette is also 4-1 on the year for Augusta in singles action.
- On the doubles court, the tandem of Valette/Isago is 4-0 on the season, the Jags are still experimenting with combinations at the other two doubles flights.
