SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's tennis team is the No. 6 seed in the 2022 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Championship and will face North Greenville in the opening round at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. on Friday morning.
 
For the Converse men's tennis team, this will be their first postseason match in program history. The Valkyries will be looking to duplicate their early season success against the Crusaders of North Greenville. Earlier this year, The Valkyries and the Crusaders met at the Converse Tennis Courts as Converse defeated North Greenville 6-1. The Valkyries swept the doubles courts to go up 1-0 in the match early, before taking five out of the six singles courts over the Crusaders.
 
Merlin Bellet has been the top player for the Valkyries all season long, the freshman is 13-4 overall and 8-2 in conference play at the No. 1 singles court. Gregoire Legrand has started to heat up for the Valkyries at the right time, the freshman is 10-6 overall and 9-1 in conference action this season. Legrand started the season at the No. 4 singles court and posted a 6-1 record, before working his way up to the No. 3 and the No. 2 singles flight. Legrand is currently 2-0 at the No. 2 singles flight and has won four straight matches.
 
Paul Berrouet and Cameron Davies have identical 7-9 overall records at the No.5 and No. 6 singles courts. While Louka Queguiner and Leopold Morel have been strong players for the Valkyries in the middle of the lineup.
 
Looking at the doubles side of the draw, the Valkyries No. 2 tandem of Bellet and Berrouet have won six straight matches. The duo is 9-2 overall on the season and 8-2 during the conference portion of the schedule. The top doubles tandem of Morel and Queguiner is 8-3 overall this season and 7-3 in conference play. The Valkyries No. 3 doubles team of Davies and Legrand is 6-8 overall on the season.
 
If the Valkyries successfully defeat North Greenville in the opening round match, they will move on to face Mount Olive in the Quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.
