Men’s Tennis Travels to Emmanuel in Regular Season Finale

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's tennis team will play their final regular season match of their inaugural season at Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon.
 
Converse is 9-9 overall and 5-4 in Conference Carolinas action this season. The Valkyries are 5-4 in true road matches this season, but have lost their last two games 4-3. Converse is led by reigning Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Week Merlin Bellet. Bellet is 13-3 overall and 8-1 in conference action, playing primarily at the No. 1 singles flight. Belllet is 9-1 over his last 10-matches and has won three-straight matches.
 
Gregoire Legrand is another top option for the Valkyries this season. Legrand is 9-6 overall and 8-1 conference play this year, with stops at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles courts for Converse this season. Legrand is currently riding a three-match winning streak and is 8-1 over his last 10-matches. Paul Berrouet and Cameron Davies both have identical 7-8 records playing at the No. 5 and No. 6 flights in the lineup. Louka Queguiner and Leopold Morel each have won three matches in conference play this season.
 
On the doubles side of the draw, the Valkyries top two tandems of Morel/Queguiner and Bellet/Berrouet have identical records at 8-2 overall. The Valkyries No. 3 doubles duo of Davies and Legrand are 6-7 overall on the season.
 
Emmanuel is 9-10 overall and 5-2 in Conference Carolinas play this season. The Lions boast a 7-3 record at home this year and they have won their last four matchups. In doubles action the No. 2 tandem of Javier Crespo and Thembokwakhe Makhanya are 14-3 overall and 4-0 in conference action this season. The Lions two other doubles pairing have each won six-matches this season.
 
In singles action, Makhanya is 11-6 overall and 2-2 as the Lions No. 1 option. Makhanya is 6-2 over his last 10-matches and has won four straight games. Hassan Hossam Badran is 9-9 overall this season playing primarily at the No. 4 singles flight. Kornel Kimaszewski and Javier Crespo are the next best options for the Lions this season with eight and seven wins at their respective flights.
