SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Converse's duo of Katie Butler and Scottie Kay Auton were not enough to power the Valkyries past the Falcons, as Converse dropped the match 3-1 (23-25, 17-25, 25-19, 22-25).

Butler had a match high 13 kills, while Auton recorded 10 kills.  Krislyn Moore (Spartanburg, S.C.) dished out 31 assists on the night.  Aubrey Crosby (Spartanburg, S.C.) tallied 20 digs.

Converse (7-21, 1-14 CC) dropped the first set in a close battle with the Falcons.  Converse held the early lead before surrendering the lead at 3-4 and never seemed to regain the lead.  Pfeiffer (3-21, 2-13 CC) extended the lead to 12-8 and 14-10 before keeping the lead at the most 3 points.  The Valkyries brought it within one at 23-24 before a Falcon kill took the set.

In set three, Converse tied things at 11-11, 16-all and 18-all before going on a 6-1 run to win the set 25-19.  A kill by Moore  and Scottie Kay Auton (Gaffney, S.C.) ended the set.

Converse dropped the fourth set, 25-22, the Valkyries and Falcons battled back and forth taking a 20-13 lead before five Valkyrie errors let the Falcons back in the match.  Falcon hitter Kelsey Blauser recorded three kills and a block to take the set and match.

Converse hosts Belmont Abbey on Saturday in a tri-match and the final Conference Carolinas match of the season.  Converse will host GRU Augusta in the final match of the season.  Game times are 12pm and 4 pm.
