GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas office announced its annual all-conference selections and major award winners for the 2025 women's volleyball seasons and five Valkyries were tabbed with the distinction. Three Valkyries received second team honors while two others were selected to the third team.
Converse's second team selections are: juniors Alayah Robertson, Bree Lyons and Alysha Arroyo. Freshman Ava Trentman and senior Noemia Chiacchio earned third team honors.
Robertson, a junior from Clayton, North Carolina, started all 28 matches this season and played in all 103 sets. She led the Valkyries with 359.0 points, an average of 3.49 points per set, also a team high. Robertson ranks second in Conference Carolinas in hitting percentage at .388 and third in solo blocks with 30. She ranks 13th in the conference in total points and 11th in points per set.
Lyons, a junior from Oxford, Mississippi, made an immediate impact in her first season with the Valkyries. She has appeared in 25 matches this season making 20 starts and playing in 83 sets. She ranks second on the team in total points and points per set, 288.5 and 3.48 respectively. She also ranks second amongst Valkyries in kills with 246, averaging 2.96 per set. Lyons is tied for eighth in Conference Carolinas in kills per set and 15th in service aces per set. Lyons was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on Oct. 13.
Arroyo, a junior from Isabela, Puerto Rico, ranks third in Conference Carolinas in assists per set with 9.10 and fourth in total assists with 937. She started all 28 matches and has appeared in all 103 sets. Arroyo was twice named the Conference Carolinas Specialist of the Week.
Trentman, a freshman from New Bremen, Ohio, appeared in 19 matches this season and started 18 of those, playing in 55 total sets. She recorded 124.0 points, good for 2.25 points per set. She tallied 99 kills or 1.80 kills per set. Trentman ranks third in Conference Carolinas in hitting percentage at .362. She was named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for October.
Chiacchio, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, made the move from outside hitter to libero this season. She appeared in all 28 games as the libero, playing all 103 sets. She recorded a team-high 54 service aces, 0.52 per set. She leads Conference Carolinas in per-set services and is second in total service aces. Chiacchio is third in Conference Carolinas in total digs with 519 and fourth in digs per set at 5.04. She has also recorded 92 assists this season, the most by any Valkyrie not primarily playing as a setter.
The Valkyries return to action on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 P.M. in the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship Semifinal. As the No. 2 seed, Converse has a bye through the first three rounds of the tournament and faces the winner of No. 3 Emmanuel and No. 6 UNC Pembroke, a game that takes place on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 P.M.
