Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C.- The first half of a crucial Conference Carolinas match-up was all the teams needed to decide the match. Pfeiffer posted three goals in the first half to cruise to a 3-1 victory over #10 regionally ranked Converse on Wednesday afternoon.
Pfeiffer (9-5-1, 7-1-1 Conference Carolinas) struck fast in the opening stanza scoring off a corner kick at the 1:29 mark. PU's Dettlinger received the corner kick and found the back of the net.
The Falcons posted another goal midway through the first half off the foot of Dettlinger, just out of the reach of Joscelyn Wallace (Vancouver, B.C., Canada).
Converse (11-2-1, 6-1-1 CC) cut into the deficit, 2-1, in the 32' off the boot of Alex Marquez (West Hill, Calif.). Marquez outran the Falcon defenders and beat the keeper going upper 90 for her fourth goal of the season.
Pfeiffer put the match out of reach in the waning seconds of the first half pushing across its third goal of the match.
Converse's offense was silent in the second half posting two shots in the first two minutes of the second half by Marquez and Ella Ritchie (Wirksworth, England). The Valkyries took eight shots in the match and six on goal.
Converse continues in league play on Saturday, Oct. 25 as it takes on Belmont Abbey in another crucial Conference Carolinas match.
