SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After graduating 11 players following his first season at the helm of the Converse women's soccer program, head coach
Colin Wylie announced the signing of 20 new student-athletes for the upcoming season. Thirteen of these incoming players are freshmen, while six are transfer students. One student-athlete is a current Converse who will be joining the team.
"I am really excited about the incoming players who will be joining us this season," stated Wylie of his signing class. "We have a good mixture of transfer players and incoming freshmen that I know will all add something to our program. Bringing in a big recruiting class will add a lot of competition to our team, which I believe will help us improve on and off the field."
Miranda Amieva joins the Valkyries from nearby Inman. She is an attacking midfielder who attended Boiling Spring High School and played with CESA USYS-NL. Amieva earned All-region, MVP and offense MVP during her high school career.
Brianna Berry comes to Spartanburg as a junior transfer from North Greenville University. Prior to her time in Tigerville, she attended Red Nank High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is a defensive-minded player who can also play in the midfield. Berry appeared in 21 games for NGU across two seasons.
Sheli Bershadski, a winger from Naples, Florida, graduated from Aubrey Rogers High School and played her club soccer with Florida West FC at the ECNL-RL level. Sheli was awarded Girls Athlete of the Year during her senior year.
Haley Black, an outside back transfer, joins the Valkyries from Limington, Maine, where she attended Biddeford High School. Black was named as an SMAA All-Conference Honorable mention and SMAA All-Conference Academics in 2024. During her club career with Velocity FC, she was a three-time Maine State Champion.
Sofía Casares Herrasti, a goalkeeper joins us from Mexico City, Mexico having graduated from Spire Academy in Ohio and played for Spire FC. A two-time Ohio state runner-up, Casares led the team as captain and as the starting goalkeeper.
Catherine Clark joins the Valkyries from Charleston, where she graduated from Ashley Hall School. She was awarded SCISA AAAA All Region, SCISA All-Star, Lowcountry All-Star and 2026 MVP, leading goal scorer for high school and club soccer with James Island Youth Soccer Club.
Sierra Criner comes to the Hub City from Brea, California, and attended Brea Olinda High School. She is a forward who is transferring as a junior from the University of Mount Olive. Criner appeared 17 times during the 2025 season for UMO.
Varinia Delgado is transferring to Converse from USC Lancaster. Delgado played a vital role in the success at USCL as an attacking midfielder, receiving All-Region and All-American awards during her sophomore season. Played with Charlotte Independent Soccer Club on their ECNL-RL team.
Kaitlyn Dibert, an outside back from Hendersonville, North Carolina, played club soccer with CESA'S ECNL-RL team and attended Hendersonville High School. Dibert joins her older sister Madison on the Valkyries roster.
Madison Dibert is transferring to Converse from Columbia College. Dibert is a defender and midfielder from Hendersonville, North Carolina. During her time at Columbia College, she earned All-Academic team awards and the Koala Scholars Award.
Abbey Griffin, a Tallahassee, Florida native, attended Lawton Chiles High School and earned First Team All-Conference as a center back, as well as Defensive Player of the Year and scholar athlete honors. Abbey was also a member of the TLH Reckoning soccer club.
Reese Haynes, a goalkeeper from Charleston, was a four-year varsity player at James Island Charter High School, helping lead the Trojans to the 2022 4A Lower State Championship. She was named the 2025 Defensive MVP. Haynes played her club soccer with South Carolina Surf Soccer Club ECNL and ECNL-RL, where she was a two-time USYS state champion and Southeast league winner.
Melissa Hill, an attacking midfielder from Waddell, Arizona, graduated from Canyon View High School and played her club soccer with SC Del Sol on their GA team. Hill was a three-time Student-Athlete Honor Roll member, an AIA Honorable mention and was a two-time club MVP.
Caroline Mercuri attended Lake Norman Charter School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mercuri was a two-time All-State player, three-time All-Region, three-time All-Conference and a two-time Offensive MVP player during her time with the LNC Knights. Caroline played club soccer with Fox Soccer Academy on their GA and DPL teams.
Charlie Morgan joins the Valkyries as a transfer from the University of North Georgia. Originally from Altavista, Virginia, she was a member of the district team during her time at Altavista High School and played with Skyline Elite Soccer Club.
Keira Smylie, a forward who graduated from Masters Academy in Vero Beach, Florida. Smiley played her club soccer with Indianatlantic Force and won the 2024 and 2026 Presidents Cup while being the leading goal-scorer and points in the Florida Premier League and was a two-time All-Area First Team player.
Zuleyka Tello-Torres, from Gaffney, attended Gaffney High School, where she played as a center back and was able to score 15 goals and get nine assists. Tello-Torres played her club soccer with Carolina FC and scored nine goals and four assists.
Nyla Vang is an attacking midfielder from Jefferson, Georgia, who attended Jackson County High School. Vang finished her club soccer career with the CESA ECNL-RL team. Vang was a 2023 high school 8-6A Region Champion, 2024 8-6A finalist and made it to the Georgia State Sweet 16, a U17 USYF region champion and a U17 United Futsal Worlds finalist with Sudamerica Futsal.
Madison Wells-Bunting joins the Valkyries from North Augusta. She is a midfielder transfer from Columbia College, who attended Fox Creek High School and played ECNL club soccer with SC United. Wells-Bunting earned Region Player of the Year, a spot on the 2024 Class 2A Girls All-State team, All Region, Offensive Player of the Year and Best All-Year Round Player of the Year.
Hayleigh Winkler, a forward from Gaffney, graduated from Gaffney High School. Winkler was a two-time All-Region Player, two-time MVP and offensive MVP during her high school career. She finished her senior season with 22 goals, setting a new record for Gaffney High School Girls Soccer.
