Valkyries Conclude Outdoor Regular Season With Strong Showing In Hickory

HICKORY, N.C. – With just one meet and a last chance remaining on the Converse University track & field team's schedule, the Valkyries posted a strong showing in their final meet before the Conference Carolinas Championships.

Men's Notes:

Senior Devron Davis ran a 10.31 in the 100-meter dash. He now ranks tied for 13th nationally in the event and fourth in the southeast region. Freshman Xavier Dixon ran a time of 10.57 in the event, trailing only Davis.
Davis also won the 200 meters with a time of 20.77. He ranks eighth nationally in the event and second in the southeast region. He has the fastest 200 time in Conference Carolinas.
- Junior Dorian Bomar took second with a time of 20.97. He currently ranks 21st nationally in the event and sixth in the region. Dixon took fourth at the meet and senior Isaac Gilmore claimed eighth.
Gilmore also finished fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 48.70.
Junior Hunter Heron was the Valkyries' top finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.28. Sophomore Reece Evans ran a time of 2:09.17.
Heron was also the team's top 1500-meter finisher with a time of 4:10.17 in 12th. Sophomore Alex Porter followed with a time of 4:12.07 in 15th.
Sophomore Grayson Powell was the lone Valkyrie to run the 3K and finished with a time of 9:51.78 in 10th.
Seniors Zack Carver and Jaxon Wright both ran the 5K, finishing with times of 15:53.01 and 16:43.71, respectively.
Freshman Neale Johnson finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.97. He now ranks 28th nationally and third in the southeast region.
Junior Nick Tibolla also took silver in a hurdles event, finishing the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.59. Sophomore Dre'Kevan Thomas finished in fifth with a time of 14.93.
The Converse 4x100-meter relay team ran a time of 40.36, taking home gold and ranking them seventh nationally and second in the southeast region.
Johnson finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 7.34 meters.
Junior Aubrey Hemphill hit a mark of 44.50 meters in the hammer throw.

Women's Notes:

Freshmen Grace Davis and Alayah Thomas went one-two in the 100-meter dash, running times of 11.60 and 11.88, respectively.
They were also the fastest Valkyries in the 200 meters with times of 24.08 and 24.57, finishing first and third, respectively. Davis now ranks 36th nationally in the event.
- Junior Jermyra Bethel and sophomore Madison Mateen finished with times of 25.27 and 25.64 in 11th and 13th, respectively.
Bethel won the 400 meters with a time of 55.71.
Sophomores Sara Aguiar Torre and Peyton MacMillan ran times of 4:50.05 and 5:01.90, respectively. They finished in third and 10th.
Sophomore Hailey Jones was the lone Valkyrie to run the 3K, finishing seventh with a time of 12:19.14.
Juniors Paisley Stepp and Mackenzie Crandell both finished top ten in the 5K with times of 19:06.32 and 19:43.03 in fourth and sixth, respectively.
Junior Kamille Cunningham and sophomore Kennedy Wright finished back-to-back at third and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. They ran times of 14.70 and 14.77, respectively.
Wright and freshman Kyla Beasley had the same finish in the 400-meter hurdles with times of 1:04.58 and 1:09.18, respectively.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team took home first place with a time of 45.62. They now rank second in Conference Carolinas and third in the region.
Cunningham won the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters.
