GREENVILLE, S.C. – After topping the fastest time nationally in the 60-meter dash this last weekend at the Tryon Banked Invitational, freshman
Grace Davis has been named the Conference Carolinas Track & Field Freshman of the Month for January.
Davis was previously named the Conference Carolinas Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
She ran a 7.34 in the prelims and topped that with a 7.29 in the following round. Both times would rank her first nationally in Division II. She previously set the program record in the event in her first collegiate meet back in December.
Compared to the Division I leaderboard, Davis would rank in a four-way tie for 24th at that level.
According to World Athletics, Davis is currently ranked tied for third for all female runners from the United States under 20 years of age and tied for fifth for such runners globally.
Davis and the Valkyries are back in action this weekend at JDL Fast Track for the Camel City Sprints and Camel City Distant meets.
