WINGATE, N.C. – Taking a weekend to preview a late-season course, the Converse University cross country teams took part in the Bulldog Stampede hosted by the 2024 national runners-up Wingate Bulldogs. The Valkyrie women placed seventh out of 13 teams in attendance for the 6K while the Converse men finished 10th out of 13 teams in the 7K.

Catawba won the race on the women's side with 32 points, including the individual champion. Anderson won on the men's side with 40 points. They also had the individual champion.

Women's Notes:

• Freshman Evie De Roos finished first for the Valkyries for the second time in as many races. She placed 22nd overall with a time of 23:43.75 and added 22 points to the Valkyries total.
• Sophomores Peyton MacMillan and Sara Aguiar Torre finished 48th and 49th respectively. MacMillan finished with a time of 24:47.75 and Aguiar Torre finished with a time of 24:56.62. They added a combined 47 points to Converse's total.
• Junior Paisley Stepp finished next in 51st overall with a time of 25:05.51, adding 46 points to Converse's total.
• Junior Mackenzie Crandell rounded out the Valkyries' scorers with a 58th place finish and a time of 25:37.91. She netted the team 51 points.
• Freshman Angelica Panchelyuga finished in 76th with a time of 27:46.37 and sophomore Hailey Jones rounded out the team's performance with a time of 28:41.00 in 85th.

Men's Notes:  

• Sophomore Alex Porter anchored the team, finishing first among the Valkyries with a time of 23:19.41 and adding 33 points to the team's total.
• Fellow sophomore Marti Ruiz Barreda finished next 10 places later in 48th with a time of 23:36.72, netting Converse 41 points.
• Senior Jaxon Wright and freshman Benjamin Notarangelo finished within four places of one another in 82nd and 86th respectively. Wright finished with a time of 24:51.08 and Notarangelo finished with a time of 24:55.65. They netted Converse 120 points together.
• Sophomore Reece Evans rounded out the Valkyries' scorers with a time of 25:07.43 in 90th place. He added 64 points to the team's total.
• Junior Hunter Heron, freshman James Hook and senior Zackery Carver rounded out the Valkyries' performance with times of 25:26.70, 25:59.89 and 26:56.09 respectively.
