GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas office announced their weekly golfer of the week selections on Wednesday morning; Converse University senior golfer Lizzie Madden was named golfer of the week for her efforts on the course.
 
Madden helped the Valkyries win their first tournament of the season yesterday afternoon. Converse won their home tournament by 36 strokes over North Greenville. This is the first time that Madden has won individual medalist honors at the Valkyries home tournament in her career. The Palmetto State native shot an opening round score of 78, before carding a 73 in the final round to finish with a total score of 151. Madden finished just one stroke a head of Aubrey Merryman to take home the title, both players carded a tournament low round of 73 on the final day of action.

Madden led the tournament and the Valkyries in Par 3 scoring with a 2.63 average, while finishing second in the tournament in Par 4 scoring with a 4.35 average. The Palmetto State native finished second on the team and fourth overall in the tournament with 19 par putts. The senior also led the tournament and the team with five birdie putts in the two day tournament.
 
Madden and the rest of the Valkyries will be back in action at the end of the month when they travel to Traveler's Rest for the Trailblazer Spring Invitational.
