FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Converse University acrobatics & tumbling team (1-2, 1-2 Conference Carolinas) took all six events in their Thursday evening victory over the Emmanuel University Lions (0-4, 0-4 Conference Carolinas) in head coach
Alexis Fowlkes' first career victory. The Valkyries defeated the Lions 228.790-203.240.
Event 1 – Compulsory
In the Compulsory event, Converse posted scores of 8.6 (Acro Heat), 9.45 (Pyramid Heat), 8.95 (Toss Heat), and 7.75 (Tumbling Heat), winning all four heats. The Valkyries scored their highest event total in compulsory so far this season, topping Saturday's 33.50. Converse led with an unusually comfortable early lead 34.75-28.95.
Event 2 – Acro
In the Acro event, Converse posted scores of 8.65 (5 Element), 5.95 (6 Element), and 9.30 (7 Element). In the first and third heats, Converse improved their scores over last weekend's performance and took a 23.90-21.15 victory in the acro portion of competition, leading the match 58.65-50.00.
Event 3 – Pyramid
In the Pyramid event, Converse posted scores of 9.50 (Inversion), 9.20 (Synchronized), and 9.60 (Open), a season-high in the first heat and tying a season-high in the second. The Valkyries won the first two heats and tied on the third to easily claim the pyramid event by a score of 28.30-24.85. With the exceptional showing in the pyramid, Converse pushed their lead from the first two events and led 86.95-74.95 heading into halftime.
Event 4 – Toss
In the Toss event, Converse posted scores of 8.85 (450 Salto), 8.75 (Synchronized), and 8.80 (Open), season-highs in the first two heats and narrowly missing a season-high in the third. The Valkyries won all three heats and took the event 26.40-23.85. Converse's lead gained from the first half further extended itself to 113.35-98.80.
Event 5 – Tumbling
The Valkyries shined in the tumbling event once again, outscoring Emmanuel 45.55-42.30 in the event. Converse recorded scores of 6.60 (Duo Pass), 6.85 (Trio Pass), 6.50 (Quad Pass). In the final three heats, Converse tallied an 8.65 (Aerial Pass), an 8.375 (6-Element Pass) and an 8.575 (Open Pass). The Valkyries won the quad pass, the 6-Element Pass and the open pass over the Lions. Going into team event, Converse led 158.90-141.10.
Event 6 – Team
With a start value of 93.45, Emmanuel scored just a 62.14 to end the meet with an overall score of 203.240 on the day. Converse started their team event with a 97.34 start value. The Valkyries scored a 69.89, helping them comfortably secure the 228.790-203.240 victory over Emmanuel, Fowlkes' career first.

Converse takes an eight-day break before hosting the King University Tornado on Friday, Feb. 28 at the Weisiger Center. The match is set to begin at 6 P.M.
