SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse University head field hockey coach
Valerie Clarke has announced the addition of six signees for the 2025 recruiting class.
"I am excited to officially welcome these six to our "fhamily" and to have them start the creation of Team 9!" Clarke went on to say, "They are part of a big incoming class that I expect to make an impact on the field right away. Their regional and national success in the sport is so exciting for the continued growth of our program. More importantly, they fit the culture of our current team and what we stand for when we say "fhamily". I can't wait to have them in purple and gold soon!"
Alyssa Bonneau (Canastota, N.Y.) – A three sport athlete at Canastota High school, Bonneau competed in Field Hockey, Softball, and volleyball. On the Field Hockey Pitch, Bonneau recorded an .854 career save percentage, 440 career saves, and 30 career shutouts. During the 2023 season, Bonneau recorded 208 saves, and during the 2024 season, Bonneau recorded 145 saves and a .901 save percentage. As a member of the field hockey team, Bonneau was named to the Conference All-Star First Team, First Team All-CNY, Most Outstanding Player Award, Tournament MVP, and Scholar Athlete. The New York native helped her team to a Section 3 Class C Championship and a Center State Conference Championship. Bonneau played club field hockey for the CNY Rage Field Hockey Club. Outside of athletics, Bonneau was a member of National Honor Society and Athletic Leadership. Bonneau received the Outstanding in English 10 Award, Outstanding in Psychology Award, Silver Service Award and the High Honor Roll. Bonneau comes from an athletic family, her father Gerry was a three-sport athlete (soccer, basketball, baseball) at Eastern Nazarene College from 1994-1997.
Ava Chapman (South Plainfield, N.J.) – A three sport athlete at South Plainfield High School, Chapman competed on the Field Hockey, Softball, and Track & Field teams during her prep career. The New Jersey native accumulated 23 goals, 14 assists and 60 points during her prep career at South Plainfield. During her prep career, Chapman was a team captain for both the field hockey and track & field programs. Chapman was also the two-time recipient of the second team All Red Division. Outside of athletics, Chapman was a member of Spanish Honor Society, Passionately Pink for Breast Cancer Club, Environmental Science, and Hero's and Cool Kids club.
Madison Christiano (Wilmington, Del.) – Was a four-year varsity field hockey player at Padua Academy. Played club hockey for Empower Field Hockey Academy. Outside of athletics, was a member of Blue and Gold Club, Student Council, and Yearbook. Christiano was a Student Council Executive officer, a Blue and Gold Executive, and the Yearbook Editor in Chief. She was also a DFRC Blue and Gold Junior Ambassador, a Special Olympics Ambassador, the National Merit Service Award, National Honor Service Recipient, and the National Community Service Award Ambassador. Christiano comes from an athletic family, her mother Stephanie played field hockey at Wesley College (1995-97), while her father Derrick played football at Wesley College (1992-93).
Cameran Huyett (West Lawn, Pa.) – A dual sport athlete out of Wilson High School, Huyett competed on both the Field Hockey and Track & Field teams. Huyett was captain of the field hockey team at Wilson High School and played club hockey for Xcalibur Field Hockey Club. During her prep career, Huyett was a Division One Honorable Mention selection in 2023 and a Division One All-Star selection in 2024. In 2022 she helped the Bulldogs to a Berk County Field Hockey Championship, a District Three Field Hockey Runner-Up finish, and a PA State Field Hockey Runner-Up finish. In 2023 she helped the field hockey team to a Berks County Field Hockey Runner-Up finish, and in 2024 the team won the 2024 Berks County Field Hockey Championship. On the track, Huyett was a member of the 2023 4x800 relay team that was a Division One All-Star. In 2024 as a member of the 4x400 relay team that was All-County and won the Berks County Championship. Huyett helped Wilson High School win both the 2022 and 2023 Berks County Track and Field Team Championships. Outside of athletics, was a member of the mental health council, a student ambassador, and was an intern at the Alvernia O'Pake Institute. Huyett, was also a member of the National Honor Society, was a 2023 All-State Academic Reward Recipient, and was a member of the 2023 NFHCA National Academic Squad. Huyett comes from athletic family, her mother Jennifer was an All-American track and field athlete at Shippensburg University (1996-2000).
Isabella Massafra (Morgantown, Pa.) – Captain of the Twin Valley High School Field Hockey team, Massafra concluded her career with 21 goals and 25 assists. Massafra helped her team to the 2021 county, district and state championship. In 2024 Massafra was named to the All-Division first team, and in 2022 & 2023 she was named to the All-Division second team Honorable Mention. Massafra was also a three-time PA Scholar Athlete Award winner. Massafra was also a member of the track team and played club field hockey for Power house Field Hockey and Central Penn Field Hockey Club. As a member of her club team, Massafra won the 2020 National Indoor Tournament. Outside of field hockey, Massafra was a four year honor roll student with a 4.25 grade point average. Massafra was a member of Mininthon, Highschool hero's National Honors Society and History Club in high school.
Zelda Pretorius (Benoni, South Africa) – Competed on the field hockey team at Kempton Park Hoerskool. Pretorius played club hockey for Jeppee Ladies, Naledi Club, Hooked on Hockey, and Johannesburg Hockey League. Pretorius averaged two goals per game, and was part of the Eastern Gauteng Field Hockey Team who came second at the Inter Provision Tournament. Pretorius was the Vice Captain for the school first team, the Johannesburg Hockey League Ladies, and Captain for the U/16 Interprovincial Team. Pretorius helped her team win Noordvall 2024, the South African was named best attacking player, best all rounder, best defender, and top scorer. She was the highest achieved player, Runner-up in JHL girls u/18, Runner Up in JHL ladies, and was selected as part of top performers at hockey festival to tour the Netherlands. Outside of athletics, was part of Student Council, was awarded five years consecutive full colors for academic high performance, and part of the Top-10 academic achievers in grade. Her cousin, Carli Pretorius played field hockey for North West University of South Africa.
